Thomson and Anderson

Couldn't resist posting this...

I posted that picture of the old lab and a picture of the guy who set up that lab; Prof. Thomas Thomson. The picture was taken around 1864. Thomson died in 1852 and was succeeded by Thomas Anderson.

How about this beard? Quite impressive I'd say.

How does anyone with a beard like that do chemistry? Just think of all of the stuff that must have accumulated in that beard over the years.

When I was in grad school there was a tech that had a beard about 2/3 that size. He shaved it off once and it was back to the same size in about a month. Unbelievable.
